My Journey…

My art is an ever changing reflection of my life experiences. For far too long, my voice has been silenced. Now I embrace my creativity to express what I have held back. Each painting begins with a situation, idea, or experience, acting as a unique puzzle that I seek to solve. Inspiration often arises from visions, fragments of dreams, or moments of deep meditation.

I explore the interplay between light and shadow. Once an idea takes shape, I dive into research, exploring the meanings and symbols associated with it. Personal experiences are integral, as I reflect on how my life intersects with the subject matter.

I combine aspects of my subject in unexpected ways, exaggerating or omitting certain features to create intrigue and depth. Intuition plays a crucial role in this research process, guiding me in selecting which aspects to focus on and helping me discern the significance of various symbols. Often, my instinct leads me to unexpected connections, allowing me to explore themes that resonate deeply on a personal level.

A gift for the lake house

Laura is a kind, wise soul, and her talent shines through her art. I own many of her beautiful works, but her black and white piece "Lost" moved me deeply. It captures the feeling of loneliness and the longing to belong, yet also offers a quiet sense of peace. Knowing others feel the same is strangely comforting. I'm honored to own it.

I commissioned Laura to paint a hibiscus flower after seeing her other work. I am very pleased with the result and am happy to bring the outside in.
